The new vibration crusher drum (VC) makes it possible to crush and compact rocks and stone in a single work step, the company says
The new HC 250 C VC compactor from Wirtgen Group is able to crush and compact mixed soils as well as stones such as basalt and granite in a single work step, the company says.
Featuring a 150 kW Deutz engine and reinforced components, the new compactors are well-equipped for particularly tough applications, according to Wirtgen.
The addition of the ‘C’ in the type designation also symbolises a reinforced drum drive, capable of inclines of up to 60 per cent.
The machines are supplied with heavy-duty tyres for rocky terrain, as well as a drivers cab and the Easy Drive operating concept, all as standard. An air-sprung driver’s seat can be selected as an optional extra.
A newly designed tool holder system is compatible with round-shank cutting tools for soft stone, as well as heavy-duty cutting tools with carbide tips and hard facing for abrasive stone or hard stone.
Wirtgen says this ensures assembly and removal are quick and easy with no need for specialist tools, which in turn keeps maintenance and servicing costs down.
Existing machines, such as the H 25i VC or 3625 VC can also be fitted with the new system by changing the drum.
The new VC compactors are suitable for a wide range of applications, including crushing and compacting geological material or working with rubble in landfill sites, the company adds.
They can also be called upon for use in road planning works in tunnel buildings and surface mining sectors or to pre-crush and loosen stone.
